Welcome!
By, now you must be wondering what this site is
all about. Well, just to clear things up, this is a Beatles slash site! Yay! Yummy Beatles slash! What could be better than that? Now, some of you may not know what exactly slash is, so here's the 411. Slash is fic written about two characters of the same sex, usually male, who are involved romantically and/or sexually. The term originates from the splinter of Trekdom which came up with the idea of "Kirk/Spock" stories -- the term "slash" comes from the slash (/) placed between the names of the characters involved. This is not to say that the Beatles were gay. It is just a way for a certain sect of Beatle fans to explore the nuances of their complicated relationship, and to have a bit of fun with it. So, no harm is intended.
Well, the title for this site was obviously taken from the song "Oh! Darling," found on the Abbey Road LP. Why did I pick this song in particular? Well, it's really an amazing song. Paul's voice sounds absolutely raw and filled with such burning emotion. It's just really wonderful. And the lyrics! Well, this song was released in 1969, the Beatles were on the verge of breaking up and both Yoko and Linda had entered the picture at this point. All of these factors, along with many others, helped to sever the incredibly close relationship that the Beatles, in particular John and Paul, had shared. Well, anyway, I always saw "Oh! Darling" as being a slightly slashy letter from Paul to John, beseeching his old partner to return to him. Well, why don't you just read some of the lyrics yourself.
Oh! Darling
Oh! darling, please believe me
I'll never do you no harm
Believe me when I tell you
I'll never do you no harm.
Oh! Darling, if you leave me
I'll never make it alone
Believe me when I tell you, ooo
Don't ever leave me alone.
When you told me
You didn't need me anymore
Well you know I nearly broke down and cried
When you told me
You didn't need me anymore
Well you know I nearly broke down and died.
Oh! Darling if you leave me
I'll never make it alone
Believe me when I tell you
I'll never do you no harm
(Believe me darling).
